Carbon Intaglio Technique

100_1043Carborundum intaglio is a method of printmaking that mimics etching but uses carborundum powder and acrylic paint to create a surface of various values.

The lines are incised with pencil into a wet gesso that has been applied to acid free mat board. Her inking technique is a-la-pupee, or select wiping.

The single plate is wiped each time for three colors, yellow, red and blue and results in luminous colors.
